Wisconsin Literacy

Ingrid's Story

As an immigrant from Germany and a single parent of two small children, Ingrid has had to work very hard to make ends meet. She set a goal for herself to become a U.S. citizen and was matched with a tutor through Literacy Partners of Kewaunee County. Ingrid passed the citizenship test on her first try and continued to work with her tutor after obtaining her GED. Along her journey, she discovered the joy of tutoring. She decided to help an adult learner from Mexico study for the citizenship test, and she plans to take the Literacy Partners tutor training session in pursuit of her tutor certification.
